Spinning the Hit Counter

Congratulations on your new website! The information on your business is up, the graphics are spectacular, your webmaster has submitted your site to all the search engines, you are ready and waiting for visitors. You check your site daily, but the only time your hit counter moves is when you or your mother visits the site. You built it, why aren't they coming?

Before anyone can visit your website, they have to know two things: your business has a website and the address of your website. And the best way to tell people about your website is through traditional ways.

Change your business stationery.

Make sure that your web address www.yourname.com  is on your normal business correspondences. The next time you order your stationery, add it right under your street address. Do the same thing with your business cards and your fax cover sheet.

Check your phone messages.

Add your web address to your phone message. "And don't forget to visit us at www.yourname.com.  If you play messages when you put your customers on hold, add it to your message loop.

Check your advertisements.

If you advertise in the newspaper, on TV or the radio, put your web address in the ad. People who read or hear your ad will become aware of your website and visit it.

Update your Yellow Pages ad.

When your ad in the Yellow Pages expires, update it with your web address. Even if you’re business is closed, your website can still give your potential customers pertinent information. Be sure to post your business hours on your website along with your business phone number.

Announce it to the world.

Send out a press release to your local newspaper and area business magazines. Many of them have a section that lists new websites. Be sure your press release includes any unique features about your site. You may end up being a feature story.

Announce it to your established customers.

If you normally send out a newsletter, include an announcement for your website. If you don’t have a newsletter, but your do have a customer mailing list, send out a special "birth" announcement. Encourage your current customers to visit your site and tell their friends about it.

Have promotional items.

If you normally have promotional items, like pens or key chains for your customers, order the next set with your web address on it. If you don’t have giveaways, you may want to order some to help announce your web site. (See #6)

Place it everywhere.

Put your web address in every place that your would put your street address, and then some. If you or your employees wear a uniform with your logo on it, add your web address under your logo. Put it on T-shirts, baseball caps, billboards, you name it.

With a little imagination and creativity, you can get the word out about your website. Then sit back and watch your hit counter spin!

Mention this bulletin when you order a website from us and we'll give you a window decal with your website on it absolutely free. Put it in your store window or the back of your car and tell the world about your website!
